Introduction

Under our purpose of "Link via Trust: Linking People Together through Trust and Honesty," we provide our products and services as a coordinator connecting all stakeholders, including partners, companies, and local governments. In addition, from the perspective that ”NTT TC Leasing is all about “People.”, we are actively working to create an environment that enhances employee engagement.

On the other hand, there are instances of harassment by some customers. Based on the belief that protecting each employee from such behavior and creating a safe and comfortable working environment for them will lead to the continued provision of high-quality products and services, we have decided to formulate the "NTT TC Leasing Basic Policy on Customer Harassment."

Definition of customer harassment

Among the words and demands from customers (including business partners), those that lack reasonableness in content, or even if reasonable, those whose means and manner are socially inappropriate and that harm the working environment of employees (employees, temporary staff, etc., of our group or outsourced companies).

The actions in question

The following examples are illustrative and not exhaustive.

  • Physical and mental abuse (assault, injury, threats, slander, libel, insult, abusive language) or coercive speech or behavior
  • Demanding excessive apologies (demanding that employees kneel down to apologize, etc.)
  • Restrictive behavior (refusal to leave, prolonged phone calls/staying, confinement, repeatedly forcing/demanding the same explanation)
  • Unauthorized entry to facilities connected to our company's facilities
  • Unauthorized taking of audio recordings, photographs or videos of employees working at our company or of facilities connected to our company
  • Discriminatory or sexual speech or behavior
  • Abuse or demands targeted at individual employees working at our company
  • Posting of personal information, etc. of our employees on social media/the internet (including publication of photos, audio, and video)
  • Demand for unreasonable or excessive services
  • Inappropriate demands for products, services, or financial compensation.

The above definitions and examples of behavior are based on the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare's manual on measures against customer harassment.

How to respond in the event of customer harassment

  • If any conduct or behavior deemed to constitute customer harassment is observed, we will take firm action to protect our employees and, if necessary, may refuse to provide customer service.
  • If we determine that an act is malicious or criminal, we will take strict action, including legal measures, in cooperation with external experts such as the police and lawyers.

Employee relations

  • We will provide training on customer harassment, including knowledge and methods for dealing with it.
  • We will prioritize the care of employees who have been victims of customer harassment and work to prevent recurrence.
  • We will continue to educate our employees to ensure that they do not engage in customer harassment against our customers.

A request to our customers

While most of our customers use our products and services without experiencing any incidents that fall under the above categories, if by any chance a customer engages in any behavior that constitutes customer harassment, we will respond in accordance with this policy. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
